Under Section 80E of the Indian Income Tax Act, the interest paid on an education loan taken for higher education is 100% deductible from your gross taxable income. There is no upper monetary limit on the deduction amount, maximizing your financial savings throughout early career milestones.
Deduction begins from the financial year in which you start paying interest and continues for 7 subsequent assessment years.
APPLICANT ADVISORY · FINANCIAL GUIDANCE
Common questions from prospective students and parents regarding education loan approvals, interest rates, and disbursement.
No. Under standard banking guidelines and the Central Scheme for Interest Subsidy (CSIS), education loans up to ₹7.5 Lakhs from nationalized banks (like Canara Bank and SBI) are completely collateral-free with third-party guarantee only. Furthermore, our private banking and fintech partners (IDFC FIRST Bank, HDFC Credila, and Propelld) provide collateral-free loans up to ₹15 to ₹35 Lakhs based on student academic merit and co-borrower credit profile.
An educational loan covers comprehensive academic and campus costs, including full course tuition fees, hostel and accommodation fees, examination fees, study materials, library deposits, laptop and software licensing fees, and project study expenses. For Global MBA candidates, international travel airfare and living allowances at partner university campuses are also eligible.
The moratorium period (repayment holiday) extends throughout the full 2-year duration of your course PLUS an additional 6 months after course completion or upon getting placed in a job, whichever is earlier. During the moratorium period, students are not required to repay the principal amount. Partial simple interest servicing during study is optional and grants preferential interest discounts.
Yes. You can process your loan either at your hometown branch near your permanent residence or through our partner branches in Pune. Lexicon MILE issues official letters recognized across all national bank branches in India. Additionally, our fintech partners (IDFC, HDFC Credila, Eduvanz, Propelld) execute the entire application digitally regardless of your physical location.
Our dedicated Admissions Financial Aid Helpdesk provides end-to-end guidance: issuing customized fee estimation certificates on official letterhead, verifying AICTE accreditation documents required by credit officers, connecting you directly with nodal bank managers, and tracking sanction status until the final disbursement reaches the institute.
